Meet our Pastor and explore christian spiritual guidance

Pastor Al, a son of First AME Church Los Angeles, attended the University of Southern California and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Theology from Azusa Pacific University. He completed a Master of Divinity degree at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia, and has also pursued a Doctor of Ministry degree at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. After completing seminary in Atlanta, Pastor Al joined the Navy as a chaplain, serving with the Marine Corps in Okinawa, Japan; Korea; and San Diego, California, and later in the active reserves for eight years. During his years as an ordained minister, he pastored churches across the country, from Washington to Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, California, and Texas, offering caring christian spiritual guidance to diverse congregations. Pastor Al worked to establish strong relationships between the church and the community wherever he served. Before leaving San Antonio, Texas, he collaborated with the City of San Antonio, the Army Corps of Engineers, and the San Pedro Creek Cultural Park Committee to preserve and restore the original foundation and structure of St. James AME Church as a National Historic Landmark. He believes the church is the ambassador of hope, faith, and service in the community. He is married and has a son.
